As we scale, we need a seasoned finance professional to own our tax compliance, transfer pricing documentation, and international VAT obligations, ensuring we stay fully compliant while our business grows.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Tax & Finance Expert will be the internal owner of all tax and fiscal compliance matters. You will work closely with our external accounting firm, manage relationships with ANAF and other tax authorities, and ensure our intercompany transactions and transfer pricing documentation are airtight. This is a hands-on role, you will both prepare documentation and represent the company externally.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Finance Operations

• Process and reconcile invoices (issuance, tracking, reconciliation) for the group

• Maintain and organize all corporate and financial documents

• Support payroll processes and ensure compliance with social contributions and reporting

• Process payments and maintain accurate financial records

• Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, cash position) and support budgeting and forecasting cycles

Tax Authority & Banking Relations

• Serve as primary contact with ANAF for inspections, queries, and correspondence

• Manage relationships with banks, including KYC requests, account openings, and treasury matters

• Work with external accountants to prepare and submit monthly/annual filings and tax returns

VAT & International Tax Compliance

• Handle VAT registrations across EU and non-EU jurisdictions (OSS, reverse charge, B2C digital services)

• Prepare and submit VAT reporting obligations and ensure timely filings in all relevant countries

• Analyze and determine on VAT treatment for new products, markets, and customer segments

Intercompany Management

• Draft and maintain intercompany agreements, process invoicing flows, and reconcile transactions across group entities

• Ensure consistency between intercompany contracts and actual transaction pricing

• Track and follow up on intercompany settlement schedules to ensure timely execution

Transfer Pricing

• Prepare and maintain the annual transfer pricing file in accordance with Romanian and OECD guidelines

• Benchmark intercompany transactions and document arm's length pricing

• Respond to ANAF requests and coordinate TP audits with external advisors

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• 8+ years of experience in Romanian tax, preferably with exposure to international clients or multinational groups

• Hands-on experience preparing transfer pricing documentation

• Strong knowledge of Romanian VAT law and EU/non-EU VAT rules for digital services (OSS, MOSS, B2B/B2C distinctions)

• Experience liaising directly with ANAF, inspections, rectifying declarations, correspondence

• Solid understanding of intercompany structures and arm's length principles

• Fluent in Romanian and English (written and spoken, you will draft documents in both)

Nice to Have

• Experience in a tech company or digital platform environment

• Familiarity with OECD BEPS guidelines and Pillar Two implications for SMEs

• Knowledge of UK, US, or other non-EU tax considerations for tech businesses

• CPA / CECCAR / ACCA or equivalent professional qualification
