Settlement Operator (Temporary Employment Contract) | Romania

Are you an experienced payments and settlements professional with hands-on knowledge of the Romanian banking market? Join an international financial institution and play a key role in ensuring the smooth processing and settlement of payment transactions within critical local settlement systems.

Your responsibilities

• Process and settle payment instructions in settlement systems, including handling error messages and operating in contingency mode when required.
• Manage liquidity and support the servicing and repayment of intraday credit granted by the National Bank of Romania (NBR).
• Monitor transactions and prepare operational reports.
• Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery testing for settlement systems.
• Cooperate with external institutions and stakeholders to resolve settlement-related operational issues.

Our requirements

• Valid certificates issued by the National Bank of Romania (NBR) and Transfond S.A. authorizing operation of ReGIS and SENT systems.
• Solid understanding of payment messages used within SENT and ReGIS, including completion of message fields in various payment scenarios (e.g., tax payments).
• Knowledge of the differences between payment messages used in local settlement systems (SENT and ReGIS) and global payment infrastructures such as SEPA, TARGET, and SWIFT.
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar settlements or payments operations role.
• Good understanding of settlement rules and market practices within Romania.
• Fluency in Romanian and either English or Polish.
• Good command of MS Office applications.
