Senior Customs and Export Control Officer with German

The purpose of this role is to ensure full compliance with customs, export control, and sanctions regulations across relevant business processes. The position plays a critical role in minimizing risk and safeguarding compliance by performing sanctions screening, supporting operational business activities, ensuring accurate tariff classification, maintaining master data, and contributing to supplier qualification and AEO monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform sanctions list screenings and document verification in line with international regulations
• Ensure accurate and timely compliance checks to prevent legal and operational risks
• Provide expert support for business transactions related to customs and export control laws
• Advise internal stakeholders on regulatory requirements and compliance procedures
• Conduct tariff classification for goods in accordance with legal requirements
• Maintain and update customs- and export control-related master data
• Work with systems such as SAP, MIAS, and platforms supporting German and European entities, including JH Profishop (DE & CH)
• Support supplier qualification processes
• Assist in monitoring and maintaining AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) certification compliance

Requirements:

• Degree in Law, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field (customs specialization preferred)
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in customs and export control
• Strong knowledge of customs regulations, tariff classification, and sanctions compliance
• Experience with SAP ERP, SAP GTS, or other ERP systems
• Advanced skills in MS Office (especially Excel and Access)
• Fluent German (written and spoken) – mandatory
• Fluent English (written and spoken)
• Service-oriented mindset with entrepreneurial thinking
