Direct Response Video Editor

KittySpout / DoggySpout is looking for a Direct Response Video Editor to join our team! As our video editor, you will be responsible for editing, producing, and managing multiple creative projects with a heavy focus on paid ad creatives for Meta Platforms - VSLs, short and long form. You'll take raw UGC and transform it into high-converting direct response ads that scale across our paid channels. We spend $2,000,000+ per month on Meta. We are looking to hire someone with 3+ years of work experience. The ideal candidate has deep DTC experience editing paid ads, understands direct response principles, runs a current AI stack in production, and delivers volume and quality in the same week without being chased.

We sell across Shopify, Amazon, and Chewy, and we're one of the fastest-growing brands in the pet space — $22M+ in revenue and targeting $45-50M in 2026. Key Objectives

• Consistent output of 8 ad briefs per week, maintaining volume and quality simultaneously.
• Increase your performance bonus by analyzing prior video metrics to increase views and conversions.
• Apply direct-response copywriting principles to review scripts.
• Operate with a high degree of autonomy, managing your daily workload efficiently to meet deadlines without needing hand-holding or frequent check-ins.
• Quickly learn and master new tools and software, and editing techniques as social media trends evolve, often with less than a day's notice.
• Ensure every video meets our exacting quality standards and perfectly matches the provided instructions, minimizing the need for revisions.
• Maintain clear, proactive communication with the company founders and executive team, providing updates when necessary.
• Create ad variations and iterations to scale winning ads and improve performance.
• Collaborate with the creative strategy team to bring ad concepts to life.
• Apply direct response marketing principles to editing (hooks, problem/solution flow, testimonials, CTAs).
• Stay up to date on internet trends and editing styles to ensure our ads feel native and engaging.

Requirements

• Fully remote.
• Fluent in English.
• Proven experience creating short-form direct-response videos for DTC brands.
• Proven experience with professional video-editing software is required. We have a strong preference for Adobe Premiere Pro
• Paid Ad Focus: Proven experience editing Meta/Facebook paid ads that convert.
• Volume: Comfortable producing 8 ad briefs per week.
• Tools: Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro
• Creative & Analytical Mindset: Ability to combine storytelling with data-driven feedback to refine and improve ads.
• No issue working overtime or on weekends if needed. You're passionate about your work and excited by the idea of producing ads that millions will see.

• Deep DTC Experience : You can name the brands and the spend levels behind your work — not just categories.
• Meta VSLs: Proven experience with short and long form Meta VSLs. Long form is the bulk of what we run.
• AI Stack : You run a current AI stack in production, not one you tried once.
• Output: You deliver volume and quality in the same week, without being chased.

KPI'S you will own

• 8 ad briefs per week Quota
• 80% First-Pass Approval Rate: At least 80% of submissions require no revisions.

Accountabilities

• Deliver 8 ad briefs per week
• Edit VSLs and DR video ads with AI-first workflows
• Weekly iterations on top-performing ads to drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure ads are visually compelling, on-brand, and optimized for performance.
• Stay plugged into social media/UGC trends to keep our creatives fresh and competitive.
• Troubleshoot underperforming campaigns by testing different edits, structures, and hooks.
• Work fluently across AI video and UGC tools (Higgsfield, and similar)
• Collaborate closely with strategists, copywriters, and performance teams

This Role Is Not For You If

• You are a meticulous video perfectionist who will spend hours refining a single transition or effect. With a high daily quota, success in this role demands efficiency. Adhering perfectly to the video template at speed is valued over spending extra time on minor details that don't contribute to views or conversions.
• You thrive in highly collaborative, team-oriented environments with frequent meetings and brainstorming sessions. This is a high-autonomy, "heads-down" role where you will be working independently the majority of the time to meet your individual production goals.
• You are a methodical planner who prefers stable, long-term projects and predictable workflows. Our environment is inherently dynamic. The tools, guidelines, and video styles can change overnight, and you must be able to pivot instantly without frustration.

How Our Hiring Works & How We Operate

Our process has three stages:
(1) Application Review + Screening - we assess your background and experience to confirm mutual fit.
(2) Technical Interview + Creative Brief - a short practical exercise so we can see how you think and work.
(3) Culture Fit Interview - a final conversation with the founder to make sure this is the right team for you and you're the right person for us.
KPIs and performance targets will be defined together before your start date so expectations are crystal clear from day one.

Salary Expectation

USD $1,800 - $2,800 per month (based on experience and expertise) + percentage of ad spend bonus structure.

We spend $2,000,000+ per month on Meta only.
